Tim Westwood charged with two more sexual offences

Tim Westwood, the former DJ for BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra, has recently been charged with two additional offences, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police. These new allegations involve an alleged indecent assault on a teenage girl aged between 16 and 17 in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991, as well as the alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in 2004.

These latest charges add to the existing legal accusations against Westwood, now 68 years old, which were initially made public in October 2025. At that time, he faced multiple counts involving seven women, including four charges of rape. Westwood has consistently denied all allegations, including both rape and sexual assault, and entered pleas of not guilty to the previous charges last December.

At present, Westwood is confronted with a total of 17 charges connected to nine different women. Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy of the Metropolitan Police emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to supporting the women who have come forward, stating: “The women who have made reports have placed their trust in us, and we remain committed to providing them with all available support.” He also highlighted the availability of independent assistance through organizations like Rape Crisis.

From a legal standpoint, Catherine P Baccas, deputy chief crown prosecutor of the CPS London, confirmed that the Crown Prosecution Service has authorized the two new charges, reinforcing that the prosecution team is confident there is enough evidence to proceed. She noted that these charges concern separate non-recent offences reported in 1991 and 2004 involving additional complainants. Westwood is yet to appear in court regarding these new charges, with a future Westminster Magistrates’ Court hearing pending. The trial related to the initial 15 charges is set to begin at Southwark Crown Court on 25 January 2027
