Four people die in Bootle house fire

A tragic house fire in Bootle, Merseyside, has claimed the lives of four individuals, with a fifth person being hospitalized due to burns sustained in the incident. The fire broke out in a semi-detached home on Stone Square in the early hours, prompting a major emergency response. Six fire engines were dispatched to the scene at 03:45 BST, where eight firefighters conducted a search through the property, locating four deceased people in an upstairs bedroom.

Emergency services, including Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service’s hazardous area response team, responded promptly. The team confirmed the four fatalities and also aided the individual who was outside the property at the time of the fire and was subsequently taken to hospital. Police have established a cordon around the street, and a collaborative investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway between the fire service and law enforcement.

Chief Fire Officer Nick Searle described the fire as “intense” and noted that it “spread very rapidly,” creating challenging conditions for responders. Neighbors recounted hearing shouting during the early morning and described the alarm caused by the fire engines and sirens in the area. Firefighters were seen knocking on doors in the vicinity, ensuring the safety of the local residents while the main fire was brought under control and efforts continued to damp down remaining hotspots.

Kevin Longshaw, area manager for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, expressed condolences, stating: “This is a devastating incident, and our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those who have lost their lives and been injured.
