Warmer and drier conditions may soon make a comeback in the UK, so it might be worth holding on to your summer wardrobe for a little longer. Temperatures are expected to climb to around 25°C in some parts of England and Wales, which is noticeably warmer than the usual for this time of year.
Early next week, weather models indicate that a high-pressure system is likely to develop near the UK. This high pressure will act as a barrier, preventing the typical Atlantic weather patterns—known for bringing wind and rain—from moving across most of the country. While north-west Scotland might still experience some rainfall, these wet systems are unlikely to spread further south and east, resulting in drier conditions, lighter winds, and warmer daytime temperatures across much of the UK.
Over recent weeks, the UK’s weather has been quite unsettled, with recurring rain and strong winds affecting most areas. Despite some rain, drought conditions persist across all of Wales and the majority of England. Following a period of increased south-westerly winds expected to bring cloud cover and some rain from the west on Friday, the weather should begin to improve by the weekend.
