Miliband says re-opening Strait of Hormuz 'essential' as he meets Rubio

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz as a key step to reducing the cost of living in the UK. This statement was made ahead of his upcoming discussions with US Senator Marco Rubio. Miliband is currently in Washington for his first official bilateral meeting with Rubio, where they are expected to address several critical international issues.

Among the topics on the agenda are the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Miliband’s invitation to Washington came from Rubio, following their encounter at a foreign ministers’ summit in the Philippines, which marked Miliband’s inaugural appearance as the UK’s foreign secretary.
