A five-year-old child who had gone missing in Badsey, Worcestershire, was found deceased in a body of water. West Mercia Police responded to reports of the missing child on Wednesday evening and discovered the child unresponsive in the water.
Despite immediate medical attention, the child was later pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe the cause of death was drowning and emphasized that there was no involvement of any third party. Out of respect for the family, the police have chosen not to disclose the child’s gender.
Emergency services were alerted at 18:50 BST, and West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance, two paramedic officers, and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the location. A spokesperson from the ambulance service described their response upon arrival.
They reported, “On arrival we discovered one patient, a young child. Ambulance staff and police worked quickly to treat the patient, but sadly, it became apparent nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene.” The incident has been described by the police as “an incredibly tragic incident.
