Woman dies after being shot outside Sheffield bar

A tragic shooting occurred outside a bar in Sheffield city centre, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old woman. The incident took place at approximately 02:45 BST on Monday near the establishment One Four One, located on West Street. Emergency responders, including police officers and paramedics, attended to the woman at the scene before she was transported to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

In connection with the shooting, three individuals have been arrested. Two of them—a 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman—were detained in the early hours near Stockport, Greater Manchester. A further 30-year-old man was taken into custody in Sheffield. All three remain under police questioning as the investigation continues. Although the deceased woman has not yet been formally identified, her family have been notified, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane described the event as a “devastating incident,” emphasizing the tragic outcome of a young woman losing her life during a night out on a busy bank holiday weekend. He confirmed that police would maintain a strong presence in the vicinity in the days following the incident. McFarlane appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward, stating, “Now is not the time to stay silent.”

The authorities have temporarily shut West Street between Mappin Street and Westfield Terrace, as well as Eldon Street, Westhill Lane, and a section of Orange Street, advising motorists to avoid the area.
