Sir Keir Starmer is currently facing intense pressure as he fights to maintain his position as prime minister amid growing dissent within the Labour Party. Several Labour MPs, including some of the prime minister’s own cabinet members, have called for him to step down following a catastrophic series of election defeats that have seriously undermined his leadership standing. The unrest within the party has sparked calls for Starmer to set a clear timetable for his exit from Downing Street.

Additionally, Labour was ousted from power in Wales and recorded its worst result ever in the Scottish Parliament elections. These electoral setbacks have intensified scrutiny on Starmer’s leadership, particularly amidst poor polling numbers and controversy over his appointment of Peter Mandelson as the US ambassador—a move that has caused some MPs to question his judgment. In a bid to regain control, Starmer delivered a hastily arranged speech but instead seemed to galvanize further calls within his party for him to step aside
