Three people were stabbed by a thirteen-year-old girl in a school in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The girl was charged with three counts of attempted murder and possession of a bladed weapon on a school premises. The teachers and a student that were stabbed were taken to hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. They have all since been discharged. The school went into lockdown for four hours after the incident.

The police arrested the girl at the scene and seized a bladed article. They later arrested a fifteen-year-old boy, who is in custody, and ran a separate investigation to see if the two incidents were linked. People have been urged not to speculate or share pictures or videos.

Head teacher James Durbridge praised the “calm and mature” response of the staff and pupils during the lockdown. Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething called the incident “deeply worrying,” and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak thanked the emergency services for their response.

Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, a bilingual comprehensive school in Ammanford, educates 1,450 pupils between the ages of 11 and 18 in Carmarthenshire, 20 miles from the centre of Swansea, and 60 miles from Cardiff.
