Two suspects have been arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to a case in which a human torso was discovered near a bunker at Kersal Dale in Salford earlier this month. The male victim, who remains unidentified, was found by a passer-by near the bunker on the 4th of April. The suspects, aged 42 and 68, are believed to be known to each other and are both from Salford.

Despite extensive searches by hundreds of officers, divers, and dogs, the victim’s identity is still unknown, and no distinguishing marks were found on the body. DNA scans of databases have also failed to identify the victim, who is thought to be a white man in his 40s, dead for several days prior to the discovery.

The arrests are considered a significant development in the case, but the investigation is still ongoing. The 42-year-old suspect was arrested after a mid-day bus raid on Eccles Old Road, and the older suspect was apprehended later at an address on Worsley Road. Greater Manchester Police describe their arrests as “undoubtedly a significant step in the investigation”.

The police are continuing to ask anyone who has any relevant information about the case to come forward. Anyone with information should contact the authorities to aid in the investigation
